Kirsten's go-to napkin folds.

As a person who takes great pride in hosting, I believe that attention to detail sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.

Among the various aspects of tablescaping, napkin folds stand as a small but impactful element that can instantly transform an ordinary table into an absolute delight.

In this blog post, I am excited to share some of my own go-to napkin folds that infuse sophistication with timeless style, adding a feminine touch to any celebratory occasion.

The Stowaway.

This clever style is perfect for when you want the decorative elements of the table to shine. To begin, fold the bottom edge of the napkin up to the top. Then, fold the top layer down to meet the bottom edge. Then, fold all bottom layers back up a little way and turn the napkin over. To make a longer design, you can turn up only the upper bottom layer as in the image. Bring the right side of the design into the centre before bringing the left side into the centre. Finally, tuck one half of the napkin deep into the other half, locking the napkin flat. Turn over to insert cutlery into the pocket.

The Sophisticated Bow.

Looking to infuse a touch of sophistication into your table arrangement? The bow napkin fold is your perfect choice. Start by unfolding the napkin completely, then fold it in half lengthwise to form a long rectangle. Next, fold the left and right sides of the napkin towards the centre, overlapping slightly to create the loops of your bow. Firmly grasp the centre of the napkin and secure it with an elegant napkin ring or ribbon to complete the bow's look. This versatile napkin fold works exceptionally well in any colour or fabric, enhancing your tablescape with a classy flair.

The Playful Fan.

Inject a whimsical element into your hosting style with the charming fan napkin fold. Lay the napkin flat and fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle. Beginning from the longest side of the triangle, make small folds towards the shorter side, ensuring they overlap slightly. Continue folding until you reach the opposite side, then tuck the remaining end beneath the last fold. As you fan out the folded sides, a beautiful fan-like structure emerges.
